Behind Rappers Stage Names!

Many artist when going into the rapping industry, they have a stage name. All these stage names have a meaning/story behind them. You might be suppressed by some rappers real names, it's as if their stage name is better.

Here are the rappers:

Donald Glover "Childish Gambino": The American rapper, actor, comedian, writer, producer, director, and overall musician.

The Story: He got the name "Childish Gambino" from the online Wu-Tang Clan generator while he was in college. In an 2011 interview with Jimmy Fallon, Donald Glover said, "We were all hanging out, chilling and drinking and then we were like, 'Oh, Wu-Tang name generator, let's put our name in.' And we're putting them all in, and they're all funny and stuff, and then mine came up and I was like, 'You guys, it's not funny anymore. This is something big.' I just really liked it."

The Story:

Tyler Gregory Okonma "Tyler, the Creator": The American rapper, singer, clothing designer, company CEO, songwriter, and music video director.

The Story: In an interview with Jimmy Kimmel Tyler talks about the origin of his stage name, "Tyler, the Creator". Tyler says it all started on MySpace, it was his username he just came up with. Since then he just stuck with it, "Tyler, the Creator".

David Andrew Burd "Lil Dicky": The American rapper and comedian. And now a patriarch for global awareness since his newest song "Earth".

The Story: Basically the joke behind Lil Dickies name is he has a small penis. Or you could say a "Lil Dick".

Rakim Mayers "A$AP Rocky": An American rapper, record producer, actor, model, and music video director.

The Story: His Mob all go be "A$AP" which they say mean "Always Strive And Prosper". The nickname "Rocky' was given to him by his mother growing up. So putting that together we get "A$AP Rocky".

The Story: "Rick Ross" is said to have picked up his stage name from drug dealing, "Freeway Rick Ross".

Cameron Jibril Thomaz "Wiz Khalifa": A 6' 4" American rapper, singer, songwriter, actor, and great father. Also a daily weed smoker.

The Story: inspired by his uncle's name, which means "knowledge" in Arabic, the rapper, born Cameron Jibril Thomaz, named himself Wisdom. His uncle then added Khalifa, which means "successor" in Arabic. He later shortened his name to Wiz when he was 15 years old. It didn't hurt that his friends would call him young Wiz since he was "good at everything".

Radric Delantic Davis "Gucci Mane": An American rapper.

The Story: Actually Gucci's grandmother gave his dad the name, not knowing anything about the clothing. Gucci decided to run with the "family name" as his stage name.
